Maundy Thursday Service

As we move into Holy Week, those days between Palm Sunday and Resurrection Sunday, many of us read along in scripture, marking the days as events unfold and the tension rises.  We imagine Jesus’ entry into Jerusalem, the encounters during the week, the questioning and teaching, the jockeying for position, the whispers as the darkness gathers.
Our Maundy Thursday service is a time of worship that marks the night Jesus gathered with his disciples one final time. We’ll enter the upper room through the words of scripture, hearing His voice as He teaches us who He is and what it means to follow Him.
To fully experience the light of the resurrection morning, we must first remember the darkness, uncertainty, and betrayal that preceded it.  Because we know the redemption that awaits, we remember and confess and surrender the old so that we may be made new.
I hope you’ll be part of this time of worship starting at 6:30pm on Thursday, April 18.  Nursery will be available through age 4.
You are loved,

Pastor Deborah Jackson

Three Easter Services this Year

Easter is just over two weeks away!
This year we are adding a third Easter service to our resurrection celebration!   Our theme is Uncontained, and you will know that the resurrection power of Jesus cannot be limited!
The last few years we have been packed in our two Easter services, and this surge occurred with the holiday falling around spring break. With Easter Sunday later this year, we anticipate even more people coming to CIL for their encounter with Jesus!
You can choose from either of these services, which will have the same worship music and preaching:

                        – Saturday, April 20 at 6pm
                        – Sunday, April 21 at 9am
                        – Sunday, April 21 at 10:45am

So, who should come to the Saturday night Easter service?

– For those who volunteer for the Sunday services, the Saturday night option is for you to enjoy a worship experience with your family.   On Saturday night, all the elementary students will join us in the sanctuary. The typical children’s ministry will occur for the Sunday services.
– For those of you who have Easter plans that make attending Sunday service a challenge, the Saturday night service will allow you to worship with CIL and still participate in other family traditions on Sunday.
– Some of you will choose to attend Saturday night, so an optimal seat will be available for someone in the community on Sunday.
With the new Easter schedule, we are choosing to have a Maundy Thursdayservice at 6:30pm on April 18 instead of a Good Friday service. This Maundy Thursday service will have the same contemplative, soul-stirring reflection we are accustomed to in order to prepare for Easter.
This is going to be an exciting time for our personal faith, church family, and wider community!
Grace and peace,
Aaron

Middle School and High School Summer Camps

Good Afternoon,
God is doing amazing things in the lives of this church and this community. Specifically, God is moving in a powerful way in the hearts of our young people. It is our desire to continue to provide opportunities that will foster these relationships with Jesus.
In the past, one of the ways we have accomplished this is by holding a joint middle school and high school summer camp. I am thrilled to inform you that this summer will be our first time holding two summer camps. I believe that God has something for each of our students, and two camps allows us to communicate these truths with great intentionality for their specific age range.
For our high school students we will hold High School Experience (HSX)June 21st-24th. For our middle school students we will hold Middle School Summer Camp (MSSC) at Fuge Camp (July 10th-14th).
HSX
We are headed to Panama City Beach, Florida, to spend a weekend experiencing God and lots of Florida sun. Throughout each day we will spend time seeking God by time in small groups, His Word, worship, and time with each other.
Maybe your student has been attending for a while or they just began. Maybe they are “further” into their walk with Jesus or they don’t know much about Him. Maybe they have a lot of friends in youth or they do not. Wherever they fall, this weekend is for them.
The deadline for non-refundable deposits is April 1st. Register HERE!
MSSC

We will be making our way up into the beautiful mountains of North Carolina! For five days we will be attending Fuge Camp. Each morning will start off with worship and the Word, followed up with a Bible study. Throughout the afternoon students will engage in recreational time with their team, participate in their chosen recreational track times, and have time to engage in activities during a structured “free time”. Each day is wrapped with powerful worship and the Word. There is no shortage of excitement throughout these five days.

The deadline for non-refundable deposits is April 1st. Register HERE!
PURPOSE
One thing about summer camp is that it takes students out of the “norm”, removing them from their comfort zone. Oftentimes, when we are away from the the constant movement and the predictability of our lives we become increasingly receptive to what God wants to do in our lives. I believe God uses moments in things like summer camp. These are moments when He reveals His heart to students and His purpose for their lives. But the catch is that moments have the opportunity to fade afterward or create a lasting change moving forward.
I ask that you would join us in belief and prayer that both camps would be packed full of moments with eternal impact.
Registration are open. Please stay tuned for announcements regarding parent meetings for camps.
If you have any questions, please contact me.
Bless you,
Pastor Josh
