From Awaken Nashville to Lent

From Awaken Nashville to Lent

Being a three streams church gives us a full experience with the presence of God, but it also means we can be involved in more activities as we link arms with friends in each stream. It has been a joy to be part of the Awaken Nashville prayer initiative with our evangelical and charismatic streams. God has united over 600 churches in Middle Tennessee for this time of spiritual focus that ends this Sunday.

Now, we join the liturgical stream for the centuries-long tradition of Lent, which starts on Wednesday, February 26, this year. “Lent lasts for forty days, which are counted in an odd way. If you don’t include Sundays, Lent begins on Ash Wednesday and ends on Easter Sunday. That’s because Sunday is always a feast day, a day to celebrate the Lord’s resurrection, and people don’t need to maintain their Lenten disciplines on Sundays. Lent ends at sunrise on Easter morning.”

To begin Lent, we will have an Ash Wednesday service on February 26 at Noon. “The ashes are a symbol that reminds us to repent by dying to our worldly desires and the transient nature of our lives.”

Please join us at CIL from 12:00 to 1:00 pm.
There will be no childcare.
You do not have to receive the ashes if you attend.

I believe both the Awaken Nashville movement and this season of Lent will be part of spiritual renewal at CIL.

Let’s go deeper!
