Live in Truth

Live in Truth

So, first of all, it is April 1, so watch out for April Fool’s jokes today. I enjoy a clean prank or joke, but I have never felt right about the deception on April 1. A reminder to believers, the Scripture instructs us in James 5:16:

But most of all, my brothers and sisters, never take an oath, by heaven or earth or anything else. Just say a simple yes or no, so that you will not sin and be condemned.

It is better to be trustworthy than funny. Let your words have such value that you do not need to add an oath or swear.

This Sunday, I have a teaching that will give vision for your life and our church family. I will share “My Prayers for CIL Church.”  These prayer requests and accompanying Scriptures will reveal God’s vision, truth from Scripture, and my pastoral heart for this local body. You will also learn principles to help you grow.

Aubrey will be leading us in worship. It’s going to be a great Sunday to grow in Him!

With love and appreciation,

Holy Week at CIL

Our observance of Holy Week includes a Maundy Thursday service at 6:30pm and Stations of the Cross prayer time during the day on Good Friday.

Maundy Thursday is a time of worship remembering Jesus’ last supper with his disciples.  The word ‘maundy’ comes from the Latin ‘mandatum’ and refers to Christ’s words to them as he washed their feet, ““A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another”.  The Eucharist, or Lord’s Supper, was instituted on that night and will be part of our time together.

The sanctuary will be open on Good Friday for prayer and will feature Stations of the Cross, a series of images depicting moments from Jesus’ journey to the cross.  We invite you to slip in at some point during the day for a time of quiet reflection with these images from artist Scott Erickson.
